To be the best friend of the environment it is not enough go to demonstrations or turning off the lights for one hour to make global changes. You can change small things in your daily life to help preserve the environment. Enter the green routine now!

When you wake up…
• Don’t turn the light on, let the sun come in, now that this time a year the sun comes up much earlier it’s perfect.
• Don’t shower all day long, reduce it, in only two minuets you will save a lot of water, apart from all the necessary energy you will save to heat H20!
• Don’t stop wash you teeth, but close the tap while doing it.
• Can you get walk or take the bike to work? Do so, it is a very good exercise and it’s also green.

In the noon…
• If you bring a snack to work, do it in a re-usable bag.
• Throw away the cans or bottles in recycling bins.

During work…
• Before recycling old pages, use them as paper notes or notes that you need.
• Deprogram the screen saver on your computer, it only waste energy.

For dinner…
• Go vegetarian once a week. The production process of meat isn’t ecological.
• Upgrade to cloth napkins, it’s more trendy and it doesn’t waste paper.
• Do not put the dishwasher until it is full. And if yours has a program to save energy, use it!
• Are you wash the dishes by hand? Do not let the water run while washing. Fill the sink, rub and rinse.

Late at night…
• If you like to read before going to sleep, use a fluorescent bulb. It lasts 10 times longer than normal and uses 65% less energy.
• Unplug all appliances. The electrical devices that are in stand-by use a lot of unnecessary energy.

In 2050, near 80% of the world population will reside in urban centers. For it, increasingly architects propose new designs for buildings that, besides taking advantage of the space and the natural resources, include all kinds of ecological elements.

In this line, diverse cities are thinking about the construction of eco-buildings and planning new ones with recycled materials, renewable energies or vegetal covers. Keep reading to discover which the most spectacular green buildings are:

The Hearst Tower, it’s the most ecological skyscraper of New York, by the moment. Its sustainable strategies, as the energetic efficiency, or its recycled material have made of it deserving of the International Highrise Prize or the Gold READ Certificate.

Also in NY, we will find in the future the One Bryant Park, which will turn into the first skyscraper of the city which technology and development are based totally on the new ecological technologies. A whole example of sustainable architecture!

The Bank of America Tower, placed in Manhattan, includes the architectural “green” elements of the Hearst Tower, and others so curios as a natural ventilation system and LED lights sensitive to the solar light.
Other good example is the CIS Tower in Manchester, that possesses approximately 7.000 solar panels in the building front and 24 wind turbines in the roof… super ECO!

In Rotterdam, Holland, is constructed the Urban Cactus a group of 98 residential units which curled balconies allow to take a better advantage of the sun and also let place for lots of plants. Sustainable and original!

The big constructions shouldn’t be scolded with the respect to the environment. Maybe in a future we all live in a skyscraper and for it we have to work to make them contaminate as less as possible. So, what do you think of these gigantic constructions? Would you like to live in one?

The holidays are ended and 2010 is here! Ahead are waiting for us days marked by the gray winter clouds … but we might give them a green touch in order that, at least, we don’t lose the hope and at the same time we look after ourselves while we protect the environment.

Have you already decided your green intentions for 2010?

We propose you very useful and simple some:

1. Behind us we leave copious Christmas dinners, the nougats and the sweets. To feed in an ecological way is a good way of spoiling to the body to compensate the excesses. We can buy fruits, vegetables and ecological meats; this food is more natural and therefore more beneficial for our body.
2. As a complement of healthy nourishment there is the mobility, it’s necessary to give movement to the body! So if you don’t have time to go to a gym, take the bicycle, walk and take the stairs always you can, you will do exercise simultaneously that you won’t contaminate and very important: you will save energy and bus tickets!
3. For the laundry, use “ecoballs”, they are a super innovation but we already are their fans. In addition you have to remember that the majority of times you don’t need to put the washer to any more than 40 degrees, this way you will save money, your clothes will last more and you will improve the environment. And certainly, don’t use the dryer machine if it isn’t strictly necessary!
4. If just in this moment the microwave or any other domestic appliance of your home has got damaged, replace it with an coefficient one. As you know, some old devices as the refrigerators need more energy that the new models. With a new one you will be able to save up to 40 % in your electricity invoice.

It’s necessary to be constants with our intentions and have them in mind every day, this way at the end of the year you will see surprising results that will give you more than one happiness. Maybe now it is the best moment to look after ourselves, to do an efficient expense of the energy and not to consume unnecessarily.

Do you want to tell us your ECO proposes for this year? Come on, cheer up and write us your ideas: comunicacionoysho@oysho.com

This Christmas we have to prepare an extra gift. Besides to your mum, to your brothers, to your boyfriend, to your girlfriend, to your pet and to the infinity of invisible friends, you must include a special gift for the planet you live in.

We already have done a search of good and ecological ideas to give him to the Earth; do you want to hear them?

1.To illuminate or not to illuminate? Many of us are not capable to conceive the Christmas without hundreds of lights around. OK, in this case it’s necessary to use low consumption bulbs!

2.Lunches, dinners, snacks… the Christmas delicacies are infinite. If you have to prepare one of these culinary summonses this year try to cook in plates that could be washed and not disposable. In addition when you are going to do the shopping, think of acquiring food that don’t take a great quantity of packages, and certainly take with you own shopping bags.

3.After the great cheers it’s time to clear up the table, what laziness! Though this year you can be prepare and organize it, separating the tailing according to what they are taking them to the corresponding container.

4.Once we have received the gifts everything disappears, because we only can think about these new pair of shoes… mmm… This year we have to be concentrated and recover all that material that could serve us in the future: gift envelopes in good condition, boxes that have another use, etc. For example, do you imagine the next year tree full of Christmas cards of previous years?

We invite you to be creative this Christmas and to explain us what you have achieved: comunicacionoysho@oysho.com

We would like to discover to you one of the most original ideas that we have heard about in the last days: modern art that is at the same time ecological!

It means that everything is possible and the artist Jason de Caires Taylor has demonstrated it’s true. He has managed to join the art with the ecology creating the first submarine park of sculpture; his purpose: to announce the importance of understanding and protecting our planet.

We can already visit the sculptures in several corners of the planet, always in crystalline and not very deep waters, in order that the scuba divers and the “Glass Bottom” ships could discover them with facility and estimate the evolution of the marine life.

Look at the sculpture that we show you, known as: “The Gardener of Hope”, a young girl lying on garden patio steps, cultivating a variety of plant pots. The young Girl symbolizes a new, revitalized kinship with the environment, a role model for future generations. The sculpture is in Cancun’s National Park, just 4 meters of depth, and in it, already live many types of marine animals and a great variety of algae and coral.

If you want to discover more about this peculiar artist, who has managed to join his three big passions: the art, the scuba diving and the planet, connect to: http://www.underwatersculpture.com/index.asp

And we are not referring to superficial things as cosmetic surgery, but to nice streets with trees, flowerpots with flowers, green corners… Though it seems you that we are pulling your leg there exists a movement called Guerrilla Gardering, totally pacifist, whose aim is to transform spaces: a bit of public area left, a desert round, flowerpot, etc. They arrive with their weapons: spades, buckets, seeds, water and fertilizer and transform places that were left in beautiful green corners.

The best thing is that it’s a movement that grows, every day they are more people around than add up freely to the Guerrilla Gardering, to claim the rights of the public places and the well-being and beauty of the cities. London is one of the cities of reference in which this group has more activists, but every time they are more professionals and amateurs that have joined.

We recommend you to visit their web and you will discover their better platform of action. And why not? Join to them and discover corners that can be arrange with flowers and plants.
