We have just discovered a voice that has captivated us. She is a young singer who discovered her real vocation in Paris. Since then, she has continued evolving and with her first album in solitary “Una forma de hablar” (of Bcore) has demonstrated us that she has a lot to offer. Discover more about her in this interview.

In which moment do you discover that your place is in the music?

I discovered it when I went to live through Paris. I left a career in Barcelona that was not filling me and was having singing classes for a while. In France I was in relation with other musicians who were composing his own songs and I decided to try also. I recorded my first topics in house, using the microphone of the computer and little by little I was doing increasingly songs. Then I realized that it was what I really liked and what I wanted to do in life.

Is the music what inspires the lyric or the contrary?

In my case, almost always, is the music the one that makes the lyrics appear. Even sometimes both arise at the same time. I recorded my first singles in my own invented English… little by little I started taking more attention of the lyrics and whenever I started my Spanish lyrics I really wanted to write thing that really identified me.

Your first album was as Oníric, together with Andy Poole. Now you sing in solitarily. How do you feel this evolution?

In that moment I felt it as a need of independence. Initially Andy was touching the themes with the guitar and I only was singing them. But I wanted to be able to play my songs accompanying only with the guitar. Since I don’t being lot of time playing the guitar, initially it was difficult for me to start, but now I am very satisfied to have given the step.

Your new album has a great mixture of styles, which is your inspiration?

Everything to of what you listen and like is an influence and can be used as inspiration. I suppose that accidentally is mixed some jazz and bossanova that I played a lot in the music school, with other styles more folk, pop, country, etc. of a great number of groups and artists to that I have listened along my life. As for the lyrics… it inspired me quite a lot the way of using the Spanish of Juana Molina and Standstill.

Which is the song of this album that defines more Maria Rodés?

Mmm… I would mention three of them. “Alomejor” defines enough good how sounds “Maria Rodés” in direct; the lyrics of “Una forma de hablar” defines me to my enough good as person, and “Desastra” shows my intimate and experimental side, I left the song in the disc as I recorded initially.

How would you encourage the people in order that he was attending one of your concerts?

What I expect from a concert is that the people feel comfortable, that could be identified by my songs or at least by the final intention, which is to express some form my way of understanding the people and myself. I like to create a relation with the people who comes to the concerts. I believe that to go to a concert is a good way of relaxing and if they can even manage to travel a bit and enjoy the moment, even better.

If a few months ago we were speaking about Charlotte, today we cannot avoid talk about the last of his father: the movie about his life. Serge Gainsbourg, was a myth of art paper and musical icon in the 70s.

Born in Paris, shy and not very attractive he carried his sorrow with a sweeping spirit that led him to turn into an idol of the French pop and allowing him to compose songs for the most beautiful women of the moment, whom also it conquered: from the mythical Brigitte Bardot, to Jane Birkin or Juliette Greco.

In the movie our envied Bardot it is interpreted by Laetitia Casta (also envied); she obtains to show the passion that existed between both. Did you know that the song that gave the success to Gainsbourg, Je t’aime … moi odd bonus, was write specially for her?

We cannot tell you any more, this movie bring surprises. In it we will know the artist as he really was, they say to us, full of frustrations. For us, wonderfully rare.

After publishing 7 “best sellers” album, to gain prizes as the British Jazz Award of 2001, the BBC Jazz Award of 2002, that of Better Vocalist of Backstage Bistro Award of 2004 and that of Better Album of the Year together with Jim Tomlinson (his producer, musician and husband) for The Lyric in 2006, it gives us a new disc: Raconte-moi, a collection of 12 themes sung in French. The whole audacity for an artist who grew in New Jersey and Colorado, but that already on her previous disc (Breakfast on the Morning Tram) was interpreting two compositions of one of the big teachers of the French song: Serge Gainsbourg.

We invite you to hear her because it is a pleasure.

The last muse of Tim Burton and the protagonist of his last movie: Alice In Wonderland, is a young Australian woman and almost unknown though… not any more.

Mia, of 21 years, has been employed at movies as Amelia or Defiance, though always with secondary roles until in 2008 it was selected like the Alicia of the XXIst century! This is a great step that allows her to work with actors of the height of Johnny Depp or Anne Hathaway, between others.

The movie is having the premiere in the whole world, receiving big successes and better critiques, and this is because this time Burton turns the memories creating movie full of fantasy, of imagination and surprises.

If you want to discover more of this actress or of the movie, enters in:

The Jane Birkin daughter is the perfect example to believe that the genes, besides the beauty, take with them the talent and the style. Also his father, the singer, actor and cinema director Serge Gainsbourg, has participate a little; the result is a great artist who dares with the cinema and the music and in both fields she demonstrates that she is a brilliant star that shines with her own light.

Her actress’s career began when she was just 13 in Paroles et Musique and it has not stopped up until achieving 34 interpretations, between them the most international 21 grams with Sean Penn.

As a singer she also has demonstrated being brilliant, 4 published albums demonstrate it. We love her last: IRM, because we consider it one of best albums we have heard recently. In addition, as curiosity, in this album are taking part the 2 child of Charlotte: Ben and Alice, the first one in “Trick Pony” playing the drums and the second one singing “Greenwich They piss Steal”.
